FOOD COMBINING MADE HARD

http://theantiagingdr.com What promted this blog was an innane email from a long time friend (fiend?) who sent me the most basic of dietary "revelations" that was supposedly some erudite wisdom but in actuallity we knew about 25 years ago in fact so basic it angered me. So here is my vitriolic rebuttle and addendum I hope it works for you.

FRUIT IS GOOD FOR YOU AND SHOULD ONLY BE EATEN WITH OTHER FRUITS AND ON AN EMPTY STOMACH!!!! Wow!!! This is food combining 101. So basic. Fruit requires very little energy to digest and you can even prove it to yourself. Take a bite from an apple then mash the apple real good, set it in a warm place (stomach is 100 degrees) for 30 minutes and then take another mouthful. It tastes different because the mechanical smashing (like chewing) makes the thing digest. Soooo the same thing happens in your stomach with masticated fruit. It digests very easily and the digestive system can "rest" instead of having to work so hard to breakdown a steak, potato, and beer. In fact it really is a good idea to switch to an "all fresh fruit fast" a few times each year to cool down the gut. Try it, you will feel better. Do the only raw fruit fast (no juice if you can) but with these caveats: no bananas (they act more like starch..sorry) and only eat melons by themselves. You will be amazed how good you feel after about 3 days and if you can do it for a full week. Remember go easy if hypoglycemic (ask your doc) and diabetics can't do it at all (sorry). Ok fruit only on an empty stomach and in 30 minutes your gut will be clear to eat anything else you might want after the initial fruit only period.

Here is the more detailed food combining regimen: starchs with vegetables only or or or (I said or) proteins with vegetables. DO NOT COMBINE STARCHES WITH PROTEINS!!! The fact is proteins and starches use different types of enzymes and acidity when being digested by the body. There it is simple as pie and you will see an excellent result within 2 weeks if you do it correctly. REMEMBER NON STARCHY VEGETABLES ONLY WITH PROTEINS. There are some stumbling blocks; how to determine which vegetables are starchy but simply BEANS & CORN ARE STARCHES!!!!! If you need help and can't get it Google "food combining" and try to simplify. Don't make this harder than it is. Just seperate fruits from everything else and keep proteins and starches appart. Oh yeah, it normally takes 3 hours for a properly combined meal to digest but much longer for an improperly combined meal (6 hours or longer). Remember experiment and have fun. Email with questions and Bon Appetit!
